Solidarity with Palestinian artists
November 10, 2023Since its origins, the initiative is based on intersectionality and the relationship of care, benevolence and attention, particularly in situations where institutions disengage, fail or neglect, notably during military or humanitarian crises that require an urgent response that also involves the cultural sphere.
Following a screening and an exceptional assembly of solidarity at the Palestine Cinema Day festival in Paris on November 2, 2023, we collectively discussed the importance of urgent and concrete action and financial support for Palestinian artists and intellectuals.
We launched a financial fund to support artists of all disciplines and their families currently living under Israeli siege in Gaza. This fund was distributed to artists directly, with the help of Palestinian artists and intellectuals well known to the Initiative members. We were also able to help them access residency programs in France and elsewhere.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the fund and we welcome any suggestion for future gestures and actions, as well as any information you may have on the subject and would like to share with us.
