The No Straight Line project proposed that each participant draw a line between Place Colette
and École des Actes, in Aubervilliers during his or her daily authorised walk, which was within a one-kilometre radius.
This line was a gesture of solidarity and mutual help
between habitants of the neighbourhood in Aubervilliers
struggling to survive the COVID- 19 crisis.
It was possible to use any medium available at home: salt, flour, flowers, charcoal or any type of detachable organic pigment.
The line could be "dripped" or drawn.
These lines also draw attention to the extreme vulnerability of the artists and their collaborators.
Curated by Elena Sorokina and Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez, this project builds on the initiative Die Balkone, which took place in Berlin on April 12 and 13, 2020. It is also inspired by the Galerie des Locataires, created in 1972 by Ida Biard in a Parisian apartment.
In collaboration with artist Gaëlle Choisne, collective Les Salonistas, and École des Actes.
With the participation of Ismail Afghan, Lisa Barmby, Ivana Kalvacheva, Dominique Lacroche, Elisabeth Lebovici, Hura Mirshekari, Elena Sorokina and Mehdi Yarmohammadi, Les Gens d'Uterpan, Marie Cool et Fabio Balducci
