Culture d'Avenir - Centre Pompidou
June 26, 2023

The Initiative took part in the workshops of the Culture d'Avenir program co-organized by the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Centre Cultura Contemporània in Barcelona and Haus Kulturen der Welt in Berlin. This transnational project focuses on the question of engagement in artistic practices, and the relationship between art and societal issues. Culture d'Avenir works with communities to develop strategies, imagine and anticipate inclusive futures through cultural and artistic practice. Through three days of workshops, walks, picnics, conferences, concerts and evening events, participants are invited to reflect, debate and act. The project was conceived at the Centre Pompidou by Eva Daviaud, in charge of prospection and social innovation, and curated by simona dvorák and Linus Gratte, in charge of programming.
Elena Sorokina and Ismail Afghan were invited to present the Initiative and Ismail Afghan's work at a convivial gathering at Maison de l'Ours. An opportunity to exchange ideas over a delicious meal concocted by Ismail, to exhibit his creations, to talk about his career and to explain the practices of the Initiative.
