Liverpool Biennial
From June 10th to September 17th, 2023

The Initiative supported Katy'taya Catitu Tayassu and Benoît Piéron during the Liverpool Biennal which occured from June 10th to September 17th, 2023.
This 12th edition, titled uMoya : The sacred Return of Lost Things, meaning « spirit, breath, air, climate and wind » in the Zulu language, is about the sacred return of lost things.
According to the Biennale’s presentation text, the event calls for ancestral and indigenous forms of knowledge, wisdom and healing, all linked to the town's history.
The Biennale’s curator Khanyisile Mbongwa, whose curatorial practice articulates itself around the notion of “Curing & Care” has been senstitive to that of the Initiative by inviting some of its artists as part of the 2023 edition of the event, which also marks the 25th anniversary of the largest contemporary arts festival in the United Kingdom.
